Resident Teaching Artist
Kelley is a resident teaching artist with Shadowbox Theatre Company, a non-profit children’s theatre that brings theatre, puppetry, and workshops to children all around NYC. Working with SBT, Kelley creates workshops or series of workshops in puppetry, acting, theatre arts, and more. As an arts-in-education provider, Shadowbox brings Kelley to DOE public schools, private schools, and charter schools, during and after school hours.
In 2020, Kelley was the Resident Camp Director of the Seacoast Repertory Theatre’s Youth Program, Portsmouth Academy of Performing Arts (P.A.P.A.). Kelley headed structuring the camps' curriculums and scheduling, running a team of counselors and CIT’s through two, three week summer day camp programs. Kelley not only lead the camps, she also taught the acting curriculum for each camp, working directly with every student. Working closely with P.A.P.A.'s education director, Kelley was the main resource for parents, guest artists, and her fellow teachers.
Kelley is a current graduate student at the City College of New York, pursuing her Masters in Theatre Education. City College's program is renowned in NYC and spearheaded by Sobha Kavanakudiyil, the co-chair for The New York City Arts in Education Roundtable. The programs aims to inspire a community of future educators who are passionate and prepared and who understand the impact and connection between artistry, pedagogy and advocacy in the arts. The program will lead Kelley to her M.S.Ed in Educational Theatre and her NYS Theatre certification.
